Zombies plan to keep pressure on leaders
Pool competition set for enthralling second half of the season

AFTER a deserved break, top potters from one of London’s premier pool competitions returned to the tables on Monday night ahead of what promises to be an enthralling second half to the season.
Fittingly, considering the blustery weather, it’s King’s Cross Hurricanes who are leading the pack in Division One of the Chalk Farm Pool League after they started 2025 by beating Hurricane Potters 6-3. The doubles pairing of Rupert Ward and Shaz Khan put the game beyond the Potters’ reach to give Alp Sezer’s side a slender 12-point advantage over chasing title rivals King’s Cross Gunners, who also chalked up an impressive 6-3 victory over Cousins Vikings.
There is also a 12-point gap between the top two teams in the second division. Maddens find themselves sitting at the summit going into this Monday’s tricky away day against Boston Arms.
Cousins Zombies (above) are lurking in wait, however, and are ready to pounce should the league leaders drop any points. Zombies’ first outing of the year will see them host the King’s Cross Gunners “B” team at their home table in Seven Sisters Road, Islington, on matchday 13.
