THE nerve-jangling drama continued on Saturday when scores of fleet-footed young footballers turned out for the penultimate weekend of action in the Regent’s Park Youth League.

Kentish Town FC staked their claim as the biggest winners of the season after adding no fewer than six cups to their trophy cabinet.

The club’s Under-8s kept the ball rolling with a thrilling victory over TGFC in the B Cup final. Adonai Lingbambe stole the show with a scintillating hat-trick, while teammate Vinnie O’Brennan was also on target in a 4-2 win.

Goals from Mason O’Leary, Robin Ellis and Blake Foxton-Allan saw triumphant Town continue their run of success in the Under-10s C1 Cup final, where they beat ELA Juve 3-0.

Then came one of the most emotional victories of the campaign as Town overcame Queen’s Park Sharks to be crowned the inaugural winners of the boys’ Under-14s Sid Hayes Memorial Trophy.

Sid was instrumental in helping to set up the league with Will Cave and Sophie Sparrow. He died in September 2023, and on Saturday friends and family came together for a now annual kickaround to pay tribute to “one of their own”.

Kentish Town also won the Under-8s Cup, as the club added no fewer than six trophies to their cabinet

Part of those ongoing celebrations have now also seen the league introduce two new trophies in Sid’s honour.

A screamer from Daniele Bertagna, a neat finish from Callum Bow, Jo Henderson-Wade’s thunderous 30-yard free-kick and a clinical strike from the edge of the box from Henry McCarthy earned Town a 4-1 win over the Sharks.

Elsewhere, a timely treble from Joao Pedro and two goals from Sami Hirji helped St John’s Wood topple Brent Cross 6-1 to win the Under-8s A Cup.

Meanwhile, two goals from Kayode Davin Davies along with good strikes from Michael Perenti, Adam Turek and Fletcher Lewis earned LSS a 5-0 victory over London Football School – and with it the Under-10s B Cup.

The Under-12s A 7-v-7 Cup final proved one of the most nail-biting of the day. Yousof Elzokm, Xavi Da Conceicao, Clarke Lintz and Lorenzo Arestegui all kept their cool from the spot as European Football Academy beat North West Academy 4-2 on penalties. Tristen Rawa had scored in normal time for European Football Academy as the game ended 1-1.
