• VICTORIA gardens is a very special small green space adjacent to the Palace of Westminster and opposite Westminster Abbey.

The area is known for disruptive protests and too many tourists. It needs sensitive security day and night.

By adding a new memorial right there where traffic is already too dense, this fragile area will be irreparably spoilt. And the magnificent plane trees will have their roots disturbed.

Why not put such a memorial in the spacious grounds of the Imperial War Museum where the visitors will not disrupt parliament?
