• I AM a republican, and I am nauseated by the cruel idea of kings, queens, princesses, dukes, and so on.

A title does not make you a good person. Far from it.

Why should we all mourn a millionaire monarch’s demise more than the death of a frail, impoverished, struggling, pensioner in one of the run-down council estates in central London?

The only title I have is “human being”. It’s not special.

But give me only that, and not the “accolade” of a knighthood at Buckingham Palace!

Aristocracy is a sickening sham. We are not equal in life or in death.
