Trump Baby: blimp featured in the protests during Donald Trump’s visit

• IT is clear from the numbers of people protesting about Donald Trump that the British people did not actually want him to visit Britain as he had behaved with regard to Mexican children in a manner reminiscent of the Third Reich.

Theresa May, however, was determined to have her state visit as part of her Brexit strategy. She was denied a solemn march down The Mall, so she carried out a phoney one in Blenheim Palace, with a display of Horse Guards, drums and a dinner to match, followed by a helicopter ride to Windsor Castle where Trump was rude to the Queen after tea.

Trump returned to Regent’s Park for a night surrounded by steel mesh, police and noisy protesters. He was then whisked off to his golf course in Scotland protected by police, machine gun towers, and helicopters.

The impression given was that Blenheim Palace was a state building when, in fact, it is not, but a venue for weddings with principal rooms for hire at a maximum of £36,000 a day. The red carpet probably was also hired, but the Horse Guards came free apart from coach hire costs.

As she constantly reminds us, Theresa May stands for democracy, so we get a report of what is going on with our negotiations with the European Union after a two-year period of secrecy. This white paper was presented to MPs 10 minutes after the debate on its contents had started.

Likewise we have an unwelcome visit by Trump which must have cost the equivalent of at least 10 new classrooms in our ramshackle schools. We should watch this prime minister like a hawk.
