• THE Conservatives in the House of Commons must take the rap for many things.

But, with a general election looming, they can’t be blamed for looking towards what they might do for a living when they are deservedly booted out of power.

So fair play to our fine home secretary Suella Braverman who has been quick off the mark auditioning as a villain for the 2024 pantomime season.

Homeless people who are taking shelter in tents on our streets are making “a lifestyle choice”, she says.

Genius! Who writes that stuff for her? Is there a team at Tory HQ? After all, they have already successfully launched Boris and Matt Hancock into political obscurity!

Mind you, it probably isn’t quite so funny for those of our fellow humans who – as winter approaches – are forced to live on the streets.

And before she goes, perhaps she could tell us: Does that sort of remark amount to hate speech?
