Coronavirus

Politics & the pandemic

• LIKE others over-75s who got Covid-19, I was petrified, troubled by the government’s response. I wrote letters to the press!

Emerging from the most serious health crisis since 1918-1919, the UK Covid-19 Inquiry in Paddington is an eviscerating indictment; scandalous inaction, arrogance, irresponsibility, deceitful covering up of misdeeds, callous disregard for the disabled and elderly, organisational inadequacy, machismo and gross, caustic, misogynistic profanities, ignorance and baseless gargantuan braggadocio, pathetic vendettas to salvage tarnished reputations, and a posturing prime minister laughing at the Italians’ situation.

Let’s refer to those unfazed by the moral or legal consequences of their actions, with their grandiose sense of delusional self-worth, manipulators who lacked empathy, strutting vanities, myopically self-interested, who had no shame, were impervious to criticism in their own unimpeachable rectitude, impulsive narcissists pathologically lying, lacking humility or trustworthiness or compassion…

Any retribution for the “hairdryer up the nose” cure for the virus?
