‘What on Earth are they finding to spy on?’

• IT is Tuesday at 11am and, as usual, a police helicopter is shattering the peace of the entire West End.

This has now become more or less routine. What on Earth are they finding to spy on?

Are there that many more incidents requiring helicopter presence than there were before the Covid-19 lockdown and are we going to be blighted by this for the rest of our lives?

When I wrote to the home affairs select committee about this they suggested that I contact the Samaritans or the mental health charity Mind.

I couldn’t work out whether they were taking the piss or just incredibly dim.
