The Black Cap pub

• REGARDING the August 4 report about loneliness and the LGBTQ community and the Black Cap pub, I remember last summer the fanfare of trumpets in the CNJ that a new company, Kicking Horse 3, had taken on the pub and was looking forward to it being reopened.

Its been over a year now and no signs of life happening. So what is Kicking Horse 3 up to?

The Black Cap is a legend in the LGBTQ community not only in London and United Kingdom but worldwide and very sadly missed.

Why is Kicking Horse 3 leaving the pub empty and looking more run down?

Camden Council have a protection order in place and the Cap can only be an LGBTQ venue – no planning permission for flats, shops, offices, or demolition.

If Kicking Horse 3 can’t be bother to reopen the Cap, why take it on? The best thing to happen is Camden Council buy up the pub and reopen her as a community asset. Even the London mayor Sadiq Khan can help back this.

The LGBTQ community have lost so many bars and clubs over the last few years we cannot lose any more. This pub is history and needs to be reopen.

I miss the old place; so many happy memories – and sad ones – of friends who are no longer with us. I was 16 in 1980 the first time I went there and over the years I saw so many great acts perform there.

The Cap is a place that was safe, friendly, and a family to so many people and has so much support today from the LGBTQ community. Let get the old girl open.
