We should be using less plastic packaging not more

• I HAVE just done a large shop at Morrisons in Chalk Farm.

As the assistant started to help me pack she put my meat products, already wrapped in plastic and polystyrene, into an additional plastic bag. When I said to her that I didn’t need any more plastic, she was relieved.

I asked her why more plastic was being used when we were trying to cut down. She replied that it had come from the top and was issued to protect people from touching certain types of meat.

At a time we are meant to be moving forward with recycling and removing plastic from the planet, Morrisons have taken a step backwards and introduced more. I hope that people will complain enough to make Morrisons rethink this terrible decision to use more not less.
