Homeless woman's shelter

A full scale review of local and national government rough sleeping policy is vital

• THE disgrace of yet another homeless death on the streets in sub-zero temperatures and in plain daylight, in busy Kentish Town, raises important questions about our priorities as society and local authorities.

Thanks for covering this shocking story (Woman who lived in makeshift camp in Kentish Town Road dies in street, January 5).

In the pandemic it was possible to house many, if not all, homeless citizens. Why can we not find a way to provide support, including health care and accommodation, for those who, for whatever reason, cannot help themselves?

A full scale review of local and national government rough sleeping policy is vital before, if as feared, many more will die on the streets this winter.
