• WITH the worst recession since 1709 pending, people are already becoming impoverished, yet every man, woman and child will be paying for the unwanted HS2 for generations to come.

The obscene £109billion plus could be used instead, to help us through this unprecedented coronavirus crisis.

So why are they peddling a train that is already obsolete 20 years before it’s built as well as it being flawed, ill-planned, a threat to public safety, and a gravy train for the few?

And they are prepared to carry on barbarically raping and destroying what little is left of our irreplaceable countryside, trees, woods, forests, wildlife and eco-systems, which will be denied to our children, and their children.

And construction workers’ lives are put at risk, from both the virus, and having to carry out hazardous works single-handedly, and still comply with government advice on distancing, which is nigh impossible and unsafe.

HS2 is not compatible with obligations against the climate crisis. Yet these laws are being flagrantly and illegally ignored in order to get HS2 built before it can be stopped.

We must be protected from the clear abuse of state power. We must demand an immediate inquiry be set up to investigate the improper conduct used to obtain HS2, and stop it in its tracks before it causes any more destruction to our planet!
