We must curb e-scooters

• IT’S high time the safety and interests of pedestrians were considered. It’s almost impossible to walk along the pavement without getting a bike up your “you know what”.
It seems that we are obsessed with climate change to the detriment of all else. You can’t now cross a road without having to look right and left – both directions – bikes are coming at you from all angles.
I was almost knocked down in Oxford Street a few days ago by someone riding an e-scooter. I got off the bus only to suffer a scooter rider smash into me.
I got no apology but, not only that, I was made to feel like the guilty party and I was challenged aggressively. I am not alone in witnessing aggressive e-scooter riding, it’s now endemic.
As if we didn’t have enough problems with push bikes on pavements. Perhaps if we enjoyed the facility of police visibility, with suitable penalties for infringements, we might get somewhere.
