• AT last the government has made a move on rewarding dentists so that NHS patients get a better service.

Until now there have been horror stories of people pulling their own teeth and being unable to sign up to a new dentist anywhere.

Will the situation make things any better? We are told that £200million is being made available to dentists and that their income could rise by up to £21,000, as long as they fulfil 104 per cent of their contract. Quite what that means I have not yet grasped!

I do remember that when I went to my dentist six months ago I was told that they “had run out of NHS funds”.

I did get an extraction and was told that they would be able to do around £3,000 of cosmetic work! As a senior citizen I would not be able to afford this.

I just hope that when I ring them for an appointment this week they do not fob me off with some excuse.

People everywhere, but especially Camden residents, deserve better from an honourable profession.
