We can keep tabs on cyclists with this easy system

• FURTHER to Veronica Hall’s May 31 letter on cycle paths (Cycle paths are not the best way to spend our money), I totally support and would agree that all wheels on public roads or pathways should be paid for by an appropriate tax imposed on owners / users.

Not only would this be fair to other road users but would also add to government coffers.

Years ago, in the Caribbean, when cycling was the normal way of getting around, enamel licence discs, along with a paper certificate, were issued by a government department on payment of a fee.

The enamel numbered disc was screwed to the front wheel for identification in case of mishap. Why not think of something along these lines?
