We are women fighting injustice and discrimination

Thursday, 19th October 2023

• WE welcome “Saluting our Sisters” (October 12/13) marking Black History Month.

Our group has been based at the multiracial Crossroads Women’s Centre in Camden since 1975, fighting sexism, racism, rape, deportation and every injustice and discrimination.

Originally Black Women for Wages for Housework, we were founded by an immigrant welfare rights campaigner from the Caribbean and a former Black Panther whose mother was African.

We are a network of women of African, Asian, Indigenous and Latinx descent in the Global Women’s Strike, including immigrant and refugee women from countries of the Global South.

We campaign for women’s unwaged caring work – which keeps people alive and defends the environment from devastation – to be financially acknowledged.

A care income for all genders doing caring and justice work for people and planet is our core demand. We welcome new volunteers.

For BHM Women of Colour GWS is launching a slide show/fact sheet on Theft from Africa. All are welcome to come and join the discussion.

• Wednesday October 25, 5.30pm, Kentish Town Library, 262- 266 Kentish Town Road, NW5 2AA. Info: 7482 2496 @woc_gws Website: Women of Colour in the Global Women’s Strike
