• SIÂN Berry’s warning about facial recognition surveillance systems is wise and timely, but deals only with the tip of an enormous iceberg, (Ban facial recognition surveillance in public spaces, January 14).

Working from home is going to be much more prevalent, on cost grounds alone, and you can bet your life companies will want all sorts of surveillance rights into our homes.

Government will no doubt exploit the rush of euphoria post-coronavirus to slip through all sorts of dodgy, intrusive, rights for the powers-that-be and the big corporations.

Tech companies have already penetrated the walls of our homes – our “castles” – with Alexa and Siri. We cannot afford to let Big Brother further into our homes and personal lives.
