Vote ‘Green’ but get ‘Blue’

• AN unholy alliance truly has been formed.
Whether at Durham County Council, Lancaster City Council or even here in London at City Hall, the Green Party of England and Wales are shamefully going into coalition with the Conservatives following the local elections.
So the Tories are being handed control of our local town halls on the sly.
We all know that the Tories in charge locally means more cuts to our cherished public services and the most vulnerable in our community being left behind.
The Green Party should never be indulging this appalling politics.
Yet Green Party politicians, led by Highgate ward councillor Siân Berry, have spent the past few weeks in secret talks with the Tories doing just that.
Many voters have understandably cast their vote for the Green Party because they believe in progressive politics, a firm commitment to social justice, and action on the climate crisis.
But they have sadly been conned. Instead all we get is the risk of the Tories taking control via a backroom deal.
Those who voted for the Green Party are right to be furious that they have been fleeced in this way. We now all know that if you vote “Green” then you get “Blue”.
