IT won’t be easy, but Camden Town WFC will be eyeing top spot in the Greater London Women’s League this weekend when they travel to rivals Hammersmith.

Harry Sherman’s side were due to be hosting South London at the Maurice Rebak Stadium, but that match has been rearranged after their opponents progressed to the third qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup, which also takes place this Sunday.

It means that Town will now instead take on a Hammersmith side who are only above them on goal difference. Both teams have made perfect starts in the Premier Division having netted three wins out of three. But Hammersmith have so far carried the bigger goal threat, scoring 16 goals to Camden’s nine, while both sides have only conceded twice.

If Town can take all three points on the road this weekend they will leapfrog early pacesetters Islington Borough at the top of the table. Borough find themselves a point clear after their winning start to the campaign ended with a 1-1 draw away to Brentford. Eva Dimitrov was on target for Islington.

They now don’t play in the league again until October 27 when they travel to South London. On the same Sunday, Camden Town will face another tricky away day against Tooting Bec.
