For the government, welfare is something one only does for free, or at huge financial profits

• WITH reference to the letters on the NHS, January 19, we need to remember Rishi Sunak is American-educated and very rich.

And it was Richard Nixon who put a killer on US “free” health care, keen on “the less medical care the health companies give the more money they make”.

There have been plenty on all sides in Britain, even some top brass in the NHS itself, who have wanted to turn health care corporate.

The normal way is to run something into the mud then sell it all off. It helps if the fuel companies over-charge, and medicines and equipment are extremely expensive, then the service is priced out of existence.

Add American-corporate ideology and practices, and you have a brilliant source of huge private wealth waiting to be picked off.

Why would those in government care, they are all very rich indeed, very healthy, mostly young and none of them can think of a better system? For them, welfare is something one only does for free, or at huge financial profits.
