There’s more to the story of this plan in Belgravia

Friday, 26th February 2021

• YOUR report (Belgravia plan with a ‘proviso’, February 19) doesn’t tell the entire story.

No mention was made of the fact that Ebury Square was made available to ordinary people nearly 200 years ago to sit in peace and quiet.

No mention was made of the likely noise generated by four play areas. Indeed, why are play areas needed at all?

Only to let Grosvenor satisfy Westminster that their new development would incorporate one so get rid of it in Ebury Square? One councillor was heard to say “you lost your nerve on the playground”.

No mention was made of the loss of light that a 10-floor Walden replacement would cause to the square with its overpowering presence.

Most time was taken up discussing the loss of light (and value) to Mozart Terrace and subsequent loss to Grosvenor.

Most of the submissions objecting to this development have been ignored. What does this tell us about councillors elected to represent us fairly?

Elections take place soon.
