There were ‘flu parties’ in the 1950s
Friday, 13th March 2020

• BACK in the 1950s “flu parties” were organised by parents in order to mix a child with one of the various childhood diseases with others who had not contracted it, in order to get the latter infected, see out the disease, and enjoy lifetime immunity thereafter.
It was a method, and largely it worked. When vaccination became available, the method was discontinued.
This idea could be applied to people who are fairly young, medically strong and with none of the listed medical complaints if, and only if, it is finally established by the medical authorities that COVID-19 cannot be contracted a second time and, of course, the project is conducted under close medical supervision.
At the moment, the position is muddled and confused; it must be sorted.
People who go through this process should note that, because they have become immune to the virus, they are very valuable in the employment market for a variety of reasons.
They should be able to qualify for a substantially higher rate of pay. They will also be very useful for a whole host of reasons.
