There is no excuse for such action

The operation to confiscate and throw away tents outside UCLH
• IT was with dismay that I saw the tents and personal belongings of homeless people being loaded into a refuse vehicle and crushed in your article, (Homeless tents tossed into a
rubbish truck, the images that shame Camden, November 16).
It was even more distressing to discover that Camden Council having initially denied involvement was then forced to concede partial responsibility.
In the view of Camden Green Party the council should hang its head in shame. As a borough and as a country we showed we could end homelessness during the pandemic.
There is no excuse for treating vulnerable people in this fashion, in the process destroying valuable personal documentation and further constraining their ability to find work and a permanent home.
The Green Party campaigns for reduced inequality and an end to homelessness. Lorna Jane Russell is standing for election as councillor in Highgate and we urge residents to vote for her to hold the Labour-dominated council to account and ensure nothing like this can ever happen again.
