There is no alternative to the 31

• I WISH to express how distraught I am regarding the possible removal of bus route 31.

As long as I’ve been around, the 31 has served as such a smooth and essential route connecting one from White City to Camden Town.

I work self-employed in media production where my job requires me to travel in and around all areas in London and call times can be a early as 4am.

The route N31/31 has been essential in offering me travel access to my destinations during such hours, so I struggle to imagine how I will be able to manage; also considering how limited travel is with night bus options and the closure of the night tubes as it stands.

Removal of this route will severely affect me in this area. Between Belsize Road and Swiss Cottage the 31 is the sole bus that journeys along that route. There are no other options available.

There has been a suggestion passengers utilise their hopper fare, but that would make what was once a direct and smooth journey now more tedious.

Needless to say there is, unfortunately, no guarantee that the hopper fare is permanent so if, god forbid, it’s removed what other options will travellers have to gain direct access to these areas?

To the best of my knowledge the route 31 is the only direct route that connects me to Camden Town, thus granting me access to other buses which travel into the north London areas where my current dentist and former university are based.

I also pick up my two god-daughters between Swiss Cottage and Kilburn so I honestly struggle to imagine how difficult travel and life will be if this route is removed.

Not only that but just the general ease that this route provides is enough reason for this route to stay. The stops especially in White City, Kilburn High Road and Camden, are often very packed and often always populated, which I image generates daily income. How, then, can removal of this route 31 help towards recovering costs as the government claim?
