The wedding is a boost for Britain

Thursday, 17th May 2018

• CAROLE Taylor objects to Meghan Markle spending a reputed £100,000 on her wedding dress, (It’s just too much, May 10).

If she understood that rich people should spend their money on goods and services – thereby keeping companies in business and people in jobs – she might feel cheerier about the whole event.

Ms Markle is on the global stage when her wedding takes place. She is representing the best of British design and that is worth millions of pounds to the fashion trade and to the UK economy.

The wedding on Saturday is going to boost our global profile and is a day of national goodwill and celebration. I’m going to enjoy watching the ceremony on television and afterwards having a royal wedding-themed barbecue with family, friends and neighbours.
