How can the wearing of such an expensive item boost the trade of fashion companies etc when there are many closing down? I hear that Mothercare are closing yet another shop. Many other well-known companies have also closed, such as BHS.

The rich may be able to afford inflated prices but the not-so-rich do not have the opportunity to spend, spend, spend. The well-off philosophy is “I’m all right Jack, and blow the rest.” So many people have tunnel vision and are not in the real world.
