Selkirk House new

Impression of how the One Museum Street/Selkirk House development could look

• I AM writing on behalf of the Friends of Russell Square to add our voices to the many objections that are being made about the proposed scheme of a huge and unsightly tower block at One Museum Street.

It seems to us inconceivable that the voice of nearby communities is apparently not being listened to.

The Friends of Russell Square take great pride in the work that is done by our members in enhancing the Bloomsbury conservation area through the work we do in and around the square.

This is such an important heritage square which attracts thousands of tourists and makes such a contribution to the local economy.

We get many comments from visitors and those who live and work in the area about the square, saying that it and the café are havens of peace that are much needed in the city.

We are certain that having this huge monstrosity looming over the square would have
a wholly negative impact on the enjoyment of the square and the attractiveness of the area to visitors.

We have expressed our views to Camden but can we encourage any readers who agree with us to write directly to the council so that they are left in no doubt about the views of the community?
