The police should come down from on high
Friday, 4th June 2021
• NOW that lockdown is over, and with armfuls of new laws with which to boss the citizenry, the police have decided in their wisdom to scramble air-support every time anyone ventures into the West End.
Rather than deal with the pandemonium unfolding below, operational policy appears to be to add to it.
What, for example, is achieved by overlaying helicopter clatter onto the already ear-blistering din produced by those people with their illegally modified engines?
I daresay swooping over the population like livestock wranglers on an Australian sheep station gratifies the sense of invincibility that they crave, but descending from on high occasionally – to actually do something about all this – might produce more useful results.
Oh for a time when we can all have some peace and quiet again… And go back to being arrested for conspiracy to eat ice-cream on a beach.
