The mayor and TfL are eradicating bus routes

• OUR “son of a bus driver” Mayor of London, in cahoots with Transport for London, is eradicating bus routes and curtailing others in a petulant purge having had his Oxford Street pedestrianisation vanity project rejected.

The pollution and congestion on Oxford Street and the surrounding streets is due to licensing 21,000 private hire vehicles and not charging them to block our streets.

The rerouting of the No 94 bus route, to terminate at Marble Arch, will force passengers to walk or change buses to access Piccadilly Circus.

Side streets and garden squares will become bus stands as the mayor forces commuters, shoppers and local residents onto Crossrail (Elizabeth line) to continue their journeys.

There is a consultation on the changes to the bus routes but what peevish reaction will those who vote against it receive from the mayor.

Already he has withdrawn support and financial aid for Westminster Council’s plans for Oxford Street improvements.

Let’s have a decrease in mayoral “smiley selfies” and a genuine attempt to meet the transport needs of Londoners.
