The long wait for a ‘state-of-the-art’ library goes on

Friday, 4th February 2022

• THE Marble Arch Mound, that “cult classic” that cost taxpayers £6million is finally coming down.

However the long wait for the much-promised state-of-the-art library continues. The latest proposal is for the library to be shoe-horned into the Seymour Leisure Centre.

The centre is being refurbished over four years and will offer a range of sporting activities. It will be more of a “community hub” housing a version of a library.

The Conservative council had spent over £1million developing a library in Luxborough Street but opted to sell the site instead.

The new proposal puts the lightweight library firmly between A&Z. Aerobics to Zumba. Will it be fit for purpose?
