• STREET dwellers are understandably fed up with being moved on by police, (We’re criminalised for living on the streets, February 10).

The responsible agencies always wring their hands.

It’s a last resort, insist the police. We’re doing our best, claim the councils. We’re spending more money than anybody else ever, boasts the government.

Thus, since the 1980s, we have become immunised to something truly appalling that was rarely seen in the 1950s and 1960s – fellow humans sleeping rough in one of the richest countries in the world.

Our politicians – of all parties – have kicked the can down the road.

The homeless are still being kicked down the road – literally. And despite our deep concern, it goes on and on!

And all of this has happened over a period of unprecedented growth and riches in the United Kingdom and the London property market.

What bloody hypocrisy!
