The global warning of scientists is being ignored

Thursday, 12th July 2018

• I AM concerned that the UK government has not responded to a warning from 15,000 scientists given last November regarding the worsening global environmental crisis.

World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity warned that runaway consumption of limited resources by a rapidly growing population is crippling the Earth’s life-support systems and jeopardising our future.

The warning identified population as a “main driver” of the crisis, and recommended actions include reducing fertility rates through education and family planning, and rallying leaders behind the goal of establishing a sustainable human population.

I have sent a copy of the scientists’ warning to Labour MP Sir Keir Starmer and hope that he will recognise the seriousness of the issue and press our government to respond.
