Elizabeth line late but on budget

• I WOULD like to dispel a commonly held belief about the Elizabeth line. Yes it was late but when you build cutting edge technology such as the signalling system schedules sometimes slip, but to say it was over budget without any explanation is misleading.

Back in 2010 the estimates were in at £18.5bn with a 10 per cent contingency, George Osborn lopped £3.5bn plus the 10 per cent off the budget so he could fudge his figures. Therefore, it was late but on budget.
