The democratic processes in Westminster borough need reform

Robert Davis, who served Westminster for 36 years
• SO Robert Davis has resigned following an investigation into his acceptance of gifts while serving as a councillor and chair of planning, (Leading Tory quits after ‘gifts’ probe, October 12).
He has been a councillor for 36 years, in which time Westminster has seen many changes, big shiny and grandiose buildings have appeared, luxury apartments (often empty) abound, but at the same time homeless rates have soared, local families have affectively been exported out of the area away from friends, family and support.
CityWest Homes have affectively failed and large parts of the social housing estate are mothballed or of poor quality. There needs to be a root and branch approach to reform of Westminster’s democratic processes towards a more open and accountable system.
