The city council leader and her cohort should be ashamed of themselves

• CITY council leader Rachael Robathan regarding the Marble Arch Mound, claims that “people are flocking to this cult classic”. As if! What a load of piffle rhetoric, when it is a catastrophe of local authority duty.
The mound remains obscure and unpopular, and is not worth a hill of beans. If it is, as claimed, such a box office hit why do Westminster City Council not reinstate an entry charge to try to recoup some of our wasted money?
Living in the shadow of this monstrosity I witness first-hand that folk are climbing it “for a bit of a laugh” and there is no evidence that they are then tempted along Oxford Street to spend money. Nor is there sign that any retailers (except for sweet and candy shops) are opening the shuttered premises.
The Marble Arch area has not been transformed beyond an unsightly traffic roundabout and bus depot. It is certainly not a place to stop, linger and enjoy. Cllr Robathan and her cohort should be ashamed of themselves.
