The C2 bus route is important

TfL have launched a survey about plans to chop the C2 bus

‘The C2 bus is the only service that runs along Albany Street, linking the north and south of Camden’

• TO claim, as John Stratton does, that the C2 is being “replaced” by the 88 bus is misleading, (Some of the route changes make sense, but I’d still like the map, October 11).

The proposal from Transport for London is to drastically cut the frequency of the current C2 bus service from 15.5 buses per hour to an 88 bus service of a “maximum of five per hour.” In addition it is proposed that only one 88 bus will run every 30 minutes at night. (These details are to be found on the TfL website).

The impact of this cut in service will be felt particularly hard in west Euston. The C2 bus is the only service that runs along Albany Street, linking the north and south of Camden.

The alternative north – south route runs along the Hampstead Road. However, access to this route for residents in west Euston is becoming increasing difficult with road closures, demolition and construction associated with the HS2 works. As a consequence, the community in west Euston is becoming physically cut off from the rest of Camden.

The strength of feeling about these cuts runs high in west Euston. Over 800 residents in and around Albany Street have signed a petition objecting to TfL’s plans, others have made their opposition known via the TfL online consultation.

Although the consultation period for these proposals has ended, it is still possible to raise concerns with your political representatives to gain their support in campaigning against these detrimental, ill-conceived, proposals.
