‘It is now impossible to tell the producers at the BBC that you disagree with their choices’
• THE BBC’s One O’Clock News of August 17 spent 20 of its 30 minutes going on about Sir Michael Parkinson.
As I understand it you should spend most of your time on the most important news and you should put the most important things first and less important things later.
Sir Michael died at 88, a good run, and I’m sure he was good at his work; but I’m sure other people who died on August 16 were good at their work too.
I’d say that the drowning of refugees off Cape Verde islands was a tragic event; I’d say the decision to reduce the number of pupils who got three highest grades was also more important.
That decision affected more than 600k people who have had a difficult time dealing with the effects of the pandemic. I’d say they and their feelings are much more important than Sir Michael’s death.
It is now impossible to tell the producers at the BBC that you disagree with their choices. I’d like a discussion on the news of who made this choice and why it was made.
