The 5p for a plastic bag policy hasn’t worked

Friday, 6th December 2019

• REMEMBER when supermarkets agreed to charge 5p for each plastic bag in order to discourage the over-use of plastic.

The money was meant to go to charity… but now that they only sell inflated-priced bags for life it means more plastic and the cash goes not to charity but the supermarkets’ profit sheet.

The law needs changing so this cash goes where it was intended.
