‘The 31 is a key route to many communities across north-west London’ [David Mckay_Cc By 2.0]
• I AGREE with Elizabeth Stott (Letters, July 7) that the 31 is a legendary bus route.
In fact, the 31 was subject to a 1985 documentary To the World’s End: Scenes and Characters on a London Bus Route*, which dipped into the lives of those who lived and worked along the route from Camden Town, through Swiss Cottage, Kilburn, Notting Hill Gate, and onto the then terminus Chelsea, World’s End pub.
I can’t think of any other London bus route that has inspired a TV programme. The 31 is a key route to many communities across north-west London and has been running through the streets of South Hampstead for over 110 years.
Save the 31!
