• I WRITE to commend the Extra for its prominent and informative coverage of the recent Trans+ Pride event in central London, (Thousands take part in ‘march for trans life’, July 2).

It was extremely positive to see so many trans+ people and allies marching in support of equality, particularly due to the regular onslaught of media attacks upon the trans+ community over the past few years, including quite despicable attempts to incite hostility against this vulnerable minority group, despite the medically and scientifically-verifed fact that trans+ women are women and vice-versa for trans+ men.

As in the past, London leads the way in the fight against unfair discrimination. Perhaps organisations such as the Royal Academy of Arts would not give in as quickly to transphobia if and when they realise the number of cisgender people who stand firmly beside their trans+ brothers & sisters.
