Take care of phones and laptops in Soho

‘Just have a very unimpressive and basic back-up mobile in your pocket’
• SKETCHING around Soho isn’t easy.
The same as a beggar, I get to see Soho revolving, in all its dizzy craziness, around me.
I’ve been approached many times by people who’ve had their phones stolen. Wallets and laptops, too, these all tend to disappear a lot.
I would suggest is that, if you’re going to Soho, taking that expensive iPhone to show it off would be folly. It’s going to get nicked.
Just have a very unimpressive and basic back-up mobile in your pocket. I don’t have a phone. No way!
I regard modern phones as showy features of a consumer society that is replacing our humanity with silicon circuits and cybernetic dictatorship. Flash and fancy phones are made by oppressed labour.
But it’s the intense and unpredictable danger of this happily deranged Soho that makes it seem so attractive to any would-be artist,
