Stop adults using kids’ play equipment

Thursday, 28th January 2021

• AFTER food shopping in Bayswater I took my 10-year-old son to the children’s play area at Westbourne Green, only to be amazed to discover two adults in the middle of the play area using the climbing frames for their exercise.

Both seemed unaware of children playing near them or that their presence might concern parents. The notice at the entrance to the play area makes it clear it is for five-to-11-year-olds and adults entering must be accompanied by a child.

Previously the adult climbing frames nearby, which had been fenced off during Covid-19 lockdown, were broken into and used by a number of people with no concern for social distancing.

After the apparatus was dismantled it seems some have thought it appropriate to use a children’s play area. And that, I am told, has included men boxing.

I appeal to Westminster City Council and the police to take action to stop adults using the climbing frames in a children’s play area.
