DOUBLE winners Camden Town WFC are gearing up for an exciting new season.

The north Londoners are coming off the back of an unforgettable campaign that saw them crowned Premier Division champions in the Greater London Women’s League and lift the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy.

Harry Sherman’s side are now busy preparing for life in Division One North of the London & South East Regional League, starting with a trip to Ashford United on Sunday, August 17.

Town’s first home game in the league arrives a week later, on August 24, when they entertain Greenwich Borough at the Maurice Rebak Stadium in North Finchley.

And this week the club added another home fixture to their list when they were drawn against Essex-based side Frontiers Ladies in the first round qualifying of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, which will take place on September 7.

Looking ahead to the game, Town chairman Richard Mahoney said: “There’s nothing like the magic of the FA Cup, it’s a competition that means so much to all the players, and they’re absolutely buzzing for the tie against Frontiers.

“It’s always special to play at home, and we’re expecting a big crowd to get behind the team.”
