Socialism or barbarism

Sir Keir Starmer
• READING Steven Taylor’s letter (What is different about Labour under Sir Keir, August 18) prompted me to write in full agreement.
Sir Keir, now there is a message in itself, is hardly likely to change the current tumultuous economic and social conditions for the better for the working class of this country should he be elected as PM at the next general election.
We can see how Sir Keir Starmer’s views are contradictory of the working class that he is always trying to identify with. His Blairist ideology was evident with his sacking of an MP from his inner sanctum for joining the striking union railway workers’ picket line.
If anything he should have been leading it. But, no, it’s the same old story in British Labour Party politics. It is almost perennially traitorous in nature and shows the lack of belief in any kind of socialism and solidarity.
Sir Keir supported Jeremy Corbyn then denied him and changed his views on Brexit. The man is an opportunist to add to the list!
I did not agree with everything Corbyn advocated but at least he held true to his values and offered some kind of hope for the underprivileged.
As Rosa Luxemburg said we have either “socialism or barbarism”; and in the current social turmoil as it gets worse it looks like the latter is winning out where human dystopian behaviour rules.
