Sadiq Khan should take action on the buses

‘When is Sadiq Khan restoring the bus timetables?’
• I TOO am feeling let down by the Mayor of London’s inaction and I fully endorse Ethan Pod’s view (What Sadiq Khan is doing in the crisis is wrong, May 29).
I would like to add how we constantly hear Sadiq Khan complaining about the lack of money and funding, but be that as it may, why isn’t he ever practical and proactive?
I am really concerned that he has not made any announcement about restoring the bus timetables. There is still a residual anger that the buses have already been cut back, with many routes shortened.
Why is he silent about this about getting the buses up and running again to full capacity?
For all the weeks of lockdown he has made appeals for the use of face masks, but the majority of bus drivers I see do not wear them.
Surely they should lead by example and so nudge passengers (not customers) to do the same? By now, the mayor should have distributed free face masks to all the staff, and made the wearing of them mandatory.
In all these weeks of lockdown, another simple and effective precaution the mayor should have taken is the installation of hand sanitisers by the card readers.
He will probably respond about the lack of finance, but it is always possible to negotiate and co-operate with a commercial company for this.
He was very quick to stop an income stream by banning certain advertisements at the bus shelters. So I just do not understand how he has had so little imagination over the last difficult weeks.
