A RESTAURANT owner whose venues have been visited by Princess Diana, Madonna, and Mick Jagger is on a collision course with residents objecting against plans for a new “high class” eatery in Queensway.
Jeremy King, who has managed famous venues like Le Caprice, The Wolseley and The Delaunay, has applied to run a restaurant inside Park Modern apartments, Bayswater, that will be open seven days a week, according to an application to Westminster City Council.
Developer Fenton Whelan says the new venue will be called “The Park” and customers could wine and dine until 11.30pm most nights.
The South East Bayswater Residents’ Association and the Bayswater Residents’ Association said keeping the restaurant open until 11.30pm Monday to Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday could lead to more noise at night.
SEBRA’s objection said: “We are concerned that the hours proposed and the nature of the licence, if granted as presented, would lead to an increase in public nuisance, including from dispersal of customers late at night, and issues with servicing.”

The group believes opening hours should be pared back and extra conditions put on the sale of alcohol because the proposed restaurant falls within what’s known as a special consideration zone. But Mr King’s company, applying to run the venue, said their proposal was “sensible and appropriate”, and added: “As such, the applicant believes it has fully taken into account the issues relevant to this location and that these will not realistically materialise within the applicant premises should the application be granted”.
Mr King has also announced plans to revive Le Caprice under a different name after it closed in 2020 and reboot Simpson’s in the Strand, according to The Times.
The luxury apartments off Hyde Park boast having some of the most sought-after views in London, according to the Park Modern website.
The development consists of 52 apartments and a mix of penthouses and mews houses and is fitted with its own private cinema and games room.
According to the real estate company Savills, apartments are selling for between £2.1million and £11.2million and are fitted with bespoke kitchens and luxurious Gaggenau appliances.
A spokesperson for Fenton Whelan said: “The new restaurant is part of the ongoing regeneration of Queensway which is a long established restaurant and café thoroughfare. Fenton Whelan have been in regular contact with the South East Bayswater Residents’ Association and have comprehensively addressed all their concerns regarding the restaurant.
“The new restaurant represents a substantial investment into the local Queensway economy and this is very welcomed locally.”
