Questions remain over the waste of £6m

Friday, 25th February 2022

• IF Westminster City Council under the Tories had not wasted £6million on the Marble Arch Mound then maybe these libraries like Mayfair and Charing Cross, that you mention on your front page of February 11, would not be under threat at all!

The devastating blog piece by the architects MVRDV of the mound adds even more questions for the city council and the councillors involved in the whole sorry affair to answer.

In light of the architects’ views, the scrutiny undertaken by the council clearly was a travesty and needs to be called to happen again if the council is going to learn some lessons in project management at least.

With, this time, calling up the architects, the contractor, and the councillors, who made the decisions, or rather didn’t and let it drift.

Finally, here, if I were the councillor involved in this whole sorry saga I would not only have resigned from my position within the council but from public office at the next available opportunity.

And anyone who is responsible for wasting several millions of pounds of council money during such critical times as a pandemic, and cost of living crisis, should surely lose at the ballot box.
