Flowers left at the scene in Charlotte Street where a cyclist died in a collision with a lorry

• FLORAL tributes grow in our area for the young man who lost his life on his bike on Charlotte Street on May 24, (Cyclist death leads to questions over rush hour construction traffic, June 1).

But, as residents, we would like to report years of developers and constructors doing largely what they wish in Fitzrovia.

It looks like big questions need to be asked.

A few streets away from the accident, for the past two years developers on Tottenham Street have been closing the road to traffic whenever they wish. Our neighbour has reported this to Camden Council who never take any action.

Developers on Charlotte Street closed parking bays with plastic bollards for 10 months and worked outside permitted hours.

On Scala Street, during the Covid pandemic, construction noise for six days a week began at 6am, two hours before permitted hours.

Some of the key planning agents in these big projects worked at Camden in the planning department yet these pre-existing relationships have not been listed in the planning documents.

Why not? We’ve written to the council about this without reply.

Vans parked on double yellow lines mysteriously don’t get tickets; we’ve sent photo evidence with no reply.

There is a permissive environment for construction as Camden is either unwilling or incapable of policing the amount of projects under way in a massive borough.
