TENS of thousands of people poured into the West End for Pride in London 2024.
More than 500 LGBTQ+ community groups and businesses took part in this year’s march from Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square for the annual celebration on Saturday.
Among those taking part in Saturday’s parade was the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and friends
It boasted giant peacock floats, motorbike formations, and martial arts demonstrations.
The Admiral Duncan Acts of Remembrance group that organises the annual vigil for victims of the Old Compton Street pub nail bomb attack of 25 years ago carried a banner.
There were live music performances and speeches on the main stage in Trafalgar Square.
Originally founded as a protest event, Pride has been criticised in recent years for its corporate feel and sponsorship.
“There is still work to be done to achieve true equality,” said the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan in a statement.
• Police arrested more than 30 pro-Palestinian activists shortly before the parade in Jubilee Gardens “on suspicion of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance”.
It has been reported that the group were accused of planning to protest against companies connected to Israel’s war in Gaza.
