Guy Woolf, aka Electra
STEPPING out on stage alone, without your usual gaggle of co-stars, might sound a daunting prospect for your average drag diva: but for Electra Cute, one fifth of the award-winning troupe known as Denim, it allows for some soul searching.
In her new, one-woman show Becoming Electra: A Queer Mitzvah at The Other Place in Victoria, we get to hear a little more about the background of Electra Cute: and it is a heart-warming show (complete, of course, with songs galore) about a young Jewish girl searching to find her own voice.
Electra (Guy Woolf) tells us about her struggle to reconcile different, conflicting elements of her identity – and we’re invited to the party she’s throwing with the aim of finding out a little more about herself.
Becoming Electra: A Queer Mitzvah is a cabaret show with a difference – exploring what happens when Jewish and Queer cultures meet.
• Becoming Electra: A Queer Mitzvah runs from March 19-21 at The Other Palace, 12 Palace Street, SW1E 5JA. Call 020 7087 7900 or visit https://lwtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/becoming-electra/
